FAQ
General Questions
What is netMeter C1?
netMeter C1 is a portable, AI-powered diagnostic tool designed for pinpointing Ethernet cable faults using advanced TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) analysis.
What platforms are supported for the C1 app?
Currently, only the Android platform is supported. We recommend downloading the app by accessing the app download site via the Chrome browser.
Are there any plans to release an iPhone app?
There are currently no plans for an iPhone app, as iOS does not support serial control at the OS level.
Where can I sign up for an account?
You can sign up at netHub. After creating your account, log in within the C1 app to start using the service.
Is netMeter C1 different from netMeter N1?
Yes. The N Series is focused on network speed testing and emulation, while the C Series specializes in Ethernet cable fault diagnosis using TDR analysis with AI-powered insights.
What is the recommended operating temperature for the device?
The recommended temperature range is 040°C (32104°F). Storing or using the device outside this range may shorten its lifespan.
Is there a silicone cover included with the device?
Yes, a silicone cover is provided. Please use the provided silicone cover when using the device for protection.
Does the C1 have a built-in battery?
No, the C1 operates without a battery — it works simply by connecting the C to C cable.
Measurement Questions
How do I connect the C1 device for measurement?
Connect your smartphone to the C1 device using a C to C cable. After connecting, make sure to tap OK on the "Allow Device Connection" popup that appears within the app.
Can I disconnect the Ethernet cable during measurement?
No, do not disconnect the Ethernet cable during measurement. TDR measurement targets all 4 pairs and the process must complete without interruption.
Does C1 detect whether the cable line is active or inactive?
Yes, the TDR measurement automatically detects whether the line is in an active or inactive state.
What is the maximum cable length the C1 can measure?
The C1 can measure cables ranging from 10 to 150 meters, with an accuracy of ±4%.
Results & AI Analysis
What information is provided in the measurement results?
The results page includes: a line graph showing cable length and anomaly points, an AI analysis summary, pair information (length and status of each pair), detailed inspection results, and an action log.
What does the AI analysis do?
The AI automatically analyzes physical defects such as minor cable damage hidden inside walls and connector corrosion, pinpointing the exact location and cause of the problem. This provides data-driven, scientific diagnosis rather than relying on engineers' intuition.
What types of cable faults can the C1 detect?
The C1 can identify disconnections, shorts, and various anomalies by interpreting TDR signal reflections. It can also detect minor physical defects like hidden cable damage and connector corrosion. This helps pinpoint the fault location and cause, enabling you to replace the affected cable section and restore normal operation.
How do I view the TDR waveform graph?
The two-dimensional TDR waveform graph is displayed only when "UI for experts" is enabled in the "Lab" menu.
Can I view past measurement results?
Yes, you can view all previous measurement results in the "Results" menu. Click an item to navigate to the detailed measurement results page.
